HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETELY RENOVATE A HOUSE?
A full kitchen remodelling can take up to 4 weeks, while a whole house renovation usually takes up to 6 weeks. This is considering that all works can be carried out smoothly and no delays are faced from owner, contractor or suppliers.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN INTERIOR DESIGNER AND A CONTRACTOR?
Interior Designers (ID) will conceptualise your home from the very start, down to every last detail including the furniture and even frames. If you want to have a hand in choosing the design and how the final work will look like, you are better off with a contractor to carry out the works and advise you on the feasibility of what you want done. There are Pros and Cons with both, and the Pros and Cons don’t outweigh each other.
HOW MUCH DOES A RESALE KITCHEN CABINET REMODELLING COSTS?
There are many cheap packages in the market by many IDs and contractor companies. While they may be cheap, what you need may not necessarily be covered. Many just keep to the standard offerings for a 20-ft kitchen cabinet in the package, even though resale flats are big and 20-ft is not enough for a typical kitchen cabinet. Till now, none has ever offered up to 30ft of kitchen cabinet in the package. A resale kitchen cabinet package can cost anywhere from $5700 for an economy package, and up to $6700 for a premium package. And these packages are usually comprehensive, taking into consideration the length needed for resale flats.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO DO A WHOLE HOUSE RENOVATION?
Resale houses can cost from $32,000 for a 3-room resale, and up to $43,000 for a 5-room resale. BTO will cost a lot lesser starting from $16,000 for a 3-room BTO, and up to $36,000 for a 5-room BTO.
Prices above range from different categories of work, from Economy to Premium packages, depending on budget and also what is needed for the renovation works.
DOES RENOVATION ADD VALUE WHEN YOU WANT TO PUT YOUR HOME ON THE MARKET?
Yes and No. While houses that are newly renovated look more appealing to prospects when selling, it really depends on whether the renovation works suit the people that are going to buy the home. Everyone has their own taste and how they would like the house to turn into. When this happens, all the renovation done to the house will not do much to the asking price as the buyer will be more interested to remodel the home to their preference.
WHAT TO FIX UP WHEN SELLING A HOUSE?
When your house is not in a place where the demand is high, you need to spend some money before selling it. You can start off by giving it a fresh coat of paint. To reduce costs on your end, choosing white will be ideal. When the new owners buy, they only need to paint the colours that they prefer. This will also give them more value as they do not need to spend extra money to get rid of the old colours that cover the walls first. Be sure to find painters that also do some minor patches at no extra costs, while they do the painting.
